BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD
The funeral of the late Private Sydney Glanville Hortin, of the 91st Depot Blackboy Hill, A.I.F., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hortin, of Denmark line, W.A., took place yesterday (Monday) morning, the 11th inst., with military honors. The cortege, headed by the Blackboy Hill Band, uNder Bandmaster W. H. Halvorsen, and a firing party of the 8th/48th Battalion, in charge of Sergt. H. D. Phillips, moved from Mr. Donald J.Chipper's private mortuary, 844 Hay-street, Perth, and proceeded per road to the Methodist portion of the Karrakatta Cemetery, where the remains were in terred. The chief mourners were: —
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hortin , (father and mother), Mrs. A. W. Langford (sister), and Mr. A. W. and Mr. A. J. Langford (brothers-in-law). The pall-bearers were six of deceased's comrades. Wreaths and floral tributes were received from numerous friends. At the conclusion of the burial service, which was conducted by the Rev. Capt. Q. A. Jenkins, three volleys were fired over the grave, and the 'Last Post' sounded by Bugler H. J. Laker. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr.Donald J Chipper.
HORTIN.-On December 8, 1916, at Victoria Hospital, Perth, Private S. G. (Sid., Hortin, dearly beloved second son of Thomas and Eliza Hortin, of Horton, Denmark line, and brother of Herbert, Frank, Tom, Jack and Mrs. E. Coombe, Mrs. G. Board, Mrs. G. A. Hamilton, Mrs. A. Langford-aged 22 years.
