Biography contributed by Robert Kearney

Daryl Reginald Dicks- RIP

" Dixie"  served in 7 Platoon C Company during the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment’s second tour of duty in South Vietnam [1971].

After a short period as the platoon signaller he was promoted to Corporal and joined 3 Section as section commander.

Dixi was a good man with a wondeful sense of humour and a quick wit. He was well liked and highly respected by all who knew or dealt with him.

Besides being a a very good section commander, in the abscence of an officer platoon commander he regularly filled the role of acting Platoon Sergeant.

Dixie retired from the army as a Sergeant in order to care for his family and recommence his country lifestyle with his horses.

His  great greatest loves were his daughters Suzi and Mandy and his horses. Like Dixi the girls were great riders and competed in rodoes whenever and wherever they could.

All members of 7 Platoon and C Company are deeply saddened by his passing and offer the family our sincere condolences for their sad loss.

Farewell brother, you will be alive and well in our heads until we all meet again at the final RV
