William John BARRETT was born in Battersea, London on 29th December, 1885 - his Mother was Annie BARRETT

He enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 1st July, 1912 - he was a Leading Stoker on the HMAS Swan (1)

William died from lysol poisoning on 25th May, 1919 in Sydney and is buried in Rookwood Cemetery (see link for newspaper article)
