MR HARDER DEAD
SHANGHAI, May 31.
Mr, John Reedie Harder, formerly of Adelaide, who was yesterday the victim of a murderous attack by pirates on the waterfront at Shanghai, died this morning.
It is officially stated that a student of the above name attended the Adelaide University for a while some years ago, and resided in the Grange district, but nothing is known of his movements since then, or of his family relationship here.

MR. J. R. HARDER
Mr. J. R. Harder, whose death was reported on Monday, as a result of the injuries he sustained in a raid by pirates at Shanghai, was a son of Captain Harry Harder, who was at one time well known in the trade between Sydney and the East. His mother, before her marriage, was Miss Ruth Beck, a member of the well-known Grange familv. He attended St. Peter's College, and afterwards studied science at the Adelaide University. About 20 years ago the family went to China. Mrs. Harder returned some time ago, and recently left for America oh a visit to a married daughter. A sister of the deceased, Mrs. Stanley Chisholm, is in Shanghai. Mr. Harder served in the Great War, and at the time of his death was engaged in survey work for the company which employed him. Mr. R. Beck, of Seaton Park, who is on a visit to England, and Mr. J. R. Beck, of Seaton Park, are uncles of Mr. Harder.
