For many years Stanley and his wife were active members of the Henley North Neighbourhood Watch Area 10.  The  Scouts Association of Australia, South Australia placed a tribute to Stanley in the Advertiser

Stanley was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to scouting and community in the Quuens Birthday Honours List June 2006.   He had a long involvement in the scouting movement in both Victoria and South Australia.
