Robert Armagh Grayson was born on 25th January 1926 in Warrnambool, Victoria.

At the outbreak of war he lived with my parents in Benalla where his father, Armagh Robert Grayson, was a Veterinary Surgeon and an Officer in the Citizen Military Forces, Veterinary Corps.

On May 19th 1944 he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force at 1 RD Melbourne. He was posted to 2 Initial Training School which was established at Somers Victoria as part of the Empire Air training School (EATS) Programme. This was followed with a training course at the Air Gunnery School in West Sale. Rober was mustered as an Air Gunner and served in operations in the South West Pacific from March 31st 1945 until he was discharged from 21 Squadron on December 14th 1945. He was detached from Fenton to Morotai on May 30th 1945 returning to Darwin on June 29th 1945. His last sortie with 21 Squadron was on August 9th 1945.
