Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

George was the eldest of four children of Thomas George William Quine (born 1878 in Brisbane, QLD) and Lucy Grace Parsons (born 1880 in Brisbane, QLD). Thomas was a Clothes Presser in Brisbane QLD in 1903 when he married Lucy (a Domestic Servant). They moved to Wellington, New Zealand where George was born in 1907, and spent time in both Brisbane, QLD and Wellington, NZ before settling back in Brisbane, QLD by 1925. Thomas worked as a Clothes Presser in NZ and QLD.

In 1928 George was working as a Truck Carrier in Brisbane, QLD when he married Violet Mary Drew Gibson (born 1909 in Mt Morgan, QLD).

George served with the ACMF from 1925 to 1928 and in June 1942 enlisted in the RAAF as a Leading Aircraftman (Service No:79597). He was a Driver, Fitter and Plant Operator during his service with the RAAF and was an A/Corporal attached to 7 Motor Transport Squadron when he was Discharged in April 1946. John Buther (Furniture Manufaturer) wrote in a reference in 1942 that George was 'straight forward, industrious and honest' (National Archives Australia).

George and Violet settled at Mitchelton in Brisbane, QLD where George worked as a Truck Carrier. George died in 1986 and Violet in 1993.
