Second to bail out and captured by two German soldiers emerging from His Church as John was running around the front. Eyewitness stated that John had a gash on his neck. It is not known whether this was a result of shrapnel from being shot down, or caused by branches when he landed in a grove of trees behind the church.
26 Feb 1945: Imprisoned Air War NW Europe 1939-45, Captured Hisoy, Norway. Interred at Stalag Luft 1, Barth, Germany. Freed by the advancing Russian Forces
