Lieutenant Syd. McNamara
The death occurred, at Keswick Hospital, Adelaide, on Thursday last, after a short illness, of Lieutenant Syd McNamara, at one time a well known resident of Mount Gambier. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David McNamara, and he came to Mount Gambier with his parents about forty years ago. On leaving school he joined his father in his saddlery and harness making business, and he worked with him until he joined the Permanent Military Forces. He was stationed for several years at Newcastle (N.S.W.), and from there he was transferred to Keswick Barracks, and he has lived there for about 12 years. Over 30 years ago Lieut. McNamara married Miss Harriett (Ettie), Gooch, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gooch, pioneer residents of Mount Gambier. They had a family of three—one son and two daughters, who are all married. Mrs. McNamara survives her husband. Mrs. H. G. Campbell, Doughty Street, is a sister of the late Lieut. McNamara.
