My darling (Da) mother

Eileen was born in Yanco NSW on the 30 July 1914, the eldest of 8 children to Alice and George Huett.
They moved to Goodwin Rd, Berowra where she had a busy childhood helping to raise her siblings. She didn’t start school until she was 7 where her Grandmother paid for her education at PLC Pymble. Upon completion of her schooling she started her 4 year nursing training at Royal Prince Albert Hospital, Camperdown.
Eileen commenced active service in 1942 joining the 2/5th General Hospital and saw active service on the island of Moratai.
Eileen was discharged in 1946 and two years later married James Malcolm McDonald and they settled in Cullen Lane, Mosman. Three years later they bought 12 Balmoral Ave, Balmoral where they raised 3 daughters.
After selling in 1958 there were many moves to the Northern Beaches, Goulburn, Cootamundra before returning to Curl Curl where James passed away in 1986.
Eileen then moved to the RSL War Veterans home. She passed away 6th March 2015 having celebrated her 100th birthday the year before.
She is honoured with her photo on display in the common room and her nursing cape is permanently on display with a World War 2 nursing uniform in the foyer.
