DEATH OF MR. L. D. SIMPSON
Leo Dummington Simpson, aged 46, barman, died at the Darwin Hospital yesterday morning from blood poisoning. He was an employee of the Hotel Darwin, and had only been here a few months. A  few weeks ago he went into Darwin. Hospital for treatment to a foot injury, said to be the result of a war wound. The late Mr. Simpson was born at Hyde Park, South Australia, and prior to coming to  Darwin was vice-president, of Glenelg Branch of the R.S.L. Since. arriving here Mr. Simpson, had, made many friends. A sad feature of his death was the arrival by the Merkur of his fiancee, Miss Bobby Robinson, who reached his bedside about an hour before he died, and to her The Standard extends sincere sympathy.
The burial took place this morning, a large concourse of people following the remains to the cemetery.
The pall-bearers were Messrs. G. Kafcaloudes and E. McKay (Buffalo Lodge), J. Young and E. White (R.S.S.I.L.A.), and M. Gosper and G. Higgs (Hotel Employees' Section of the N.A.W.U.). The service  at the graveside was conducted by Rev. Father Henschke. The presidents of The Buffalo Lodge and the R.S.S.I.L.A., and the secretary of the N.A.W.U. attended the funeral.
Wreaths were received from Miss B. Robinson, Buffalo Lodge Paraparap 27, Buffalo Lodge, Darwin, 152, Mr. and Mrs, Morris, Hotel Darwin, Hotel Employees' Section, N.A. W.U., Directors of Hotel Darwin, staff of Hotel Darwin, Darwin branch R.S.S.I.L.A., and Glenelg Branch R.S.S.I.L.A. Telegrams were received from various parts of the country, including one from the president of the S.A branch of the R.S.S.I.LA.
