Aubrey was the seventh of thirteen children of Percival William Fletcher (born 1877 in Tasmania) and Lillian Edwards (born 1885 in Maldon, Victoria). Percival and Lillian married in Maldon, Victoria - which is in the Victorian Goldfields, north west of Melbourne - in 1906. They moved to Daylesford, at the foot of the Great Dividing Range, in 1913 before settling in Castlemaine, Victoria in 1916. Percival was a Carter.
Aubrey was a Plumber in Castlemaine in 1941 when he married Joyce Holmes Farrar (born 1919 in Castlemaine, Victoria). Joyce worked in the Textile Mills. Aubrey enlisted in Geraldton, WA in July 1942 in the Army. He served with 2/32 Australian Infantry Battalion as a Lieutenant (Service Nos: VX88485/V59883) at El Alamein, and in New Guinea. He was Discharged in February 1946. Aubrey's brothers Percival Roy Fletcher (Service No: VX88512) and John (Jack) Colin Fletcher (Service No: VX87885) served in WWII, and Brothers-in-Law - Donald Henry Harris (RAAF; Service No:141884), Reginald Minihan (RAAF; Service No:119113), Frank Edward Joy (Service No: VX138940), and Harold Dean Parker (RAAF; 120822) also served in WWII.
Aubrey returned to Castlemaine following his Discharge, where he worked as a Labourer and Plumber until his death in 1949.
