YOUNG SOLDIER MAKES THE SUPREME SACRIFICE
Mr and Mrs C Milne, of Glenpatrick have received the sad intelligence that their Son, Company Sergeant-Major F M Milne, was killed in action in France on 10th January last. The young hero, who was only a little over 20 years of age, sailed on 8th May, 1915, as a private. On 31st August, 1916, be was wounded ; at that time he was a Sergeant, but when he rejoined his battalion after his recovery he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant-Major. He went to France with the first batch from Gallipoli. In December last Sergeant-Major Milne went to England for ten days' holiday, and he was killed a month later whilst bravely doing his bit in France.
