Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Norman was the only child of Stanley Illingworth (born 1885 in Cheshire, England) and Katie (Nita) Juanita Eastwood (born 1887 in Melbourne, Victoria). Stanley was 5 years of age when he immigrated with his family to Melbourne, Victoria and was a Bank Clerk at Mount Barker in WA when he married his first wife (Amy Florence Groube) with whom he had three sons - one of whom survived childhood. Amy died in 1921, and Stanley - an Accountant at Wagin in WA - married Katie in 1923 in Perth, WA. In 1925, a Bench Warrant was issued in Glebe, Sydney, NSW for Stanley on the grounds of desertion. Katie was a Storekeeper in Merredin, WA when she died in 1930, and Norman was raised by his Aunt and her husband.

In 1941 Norman was a Draftsman in Perth, WA when he married Yvonne Grace Maniing (born 1923 in Perth, WA), and in July 1942 Stanley enlisted with the RAAF. He served as an Aircraftman 2 (Service No:81233) and was attached to 14 Airfield Construction Squadron when he was Discharged in February 1946.

Norman and Yvonne settled in Perth, WA, where Norman worked as a Draftsman before moving to Bunbury in the early 1950s. Norman worked in Bunbury as an Engineer until he and Yvonne moved to Mandurah, WA in 1980. They were living at Duncraig in Perth WA in 1982 when Yvonne died. Norman died in 2013.
