Son of William Stanley and Elizabeth Ann Spencer. A school teacher, he became ill soon after enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force and was admitted to the 5th Australian General Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria. He died aged 28 years.

SPENCER.-On the 10th November, 1916, at Base Hospital, Melbourne, Sergeant William Charles Woodward Spencer, dearly beloved nephew of Mrs. A. Rose, P. I. and L. de Gruchy, of North Melbourne.
