Albert Jnr was the eldest of two children of Albert Edward Lake Snr (born 1889 in Essex, England) and Muriel Ida Austin (born 1896 in Wickepin, WA). Albert Snr was a Mercantile Stoker when he immigrated to Western Australia. He was working as a Railway Fireman in Narrogin, WA in 1913 when he married Muriel. They settled in Narrogin, and Albert Snr served in the AIF (Service No:7016) in WWI. They remained at Narrogin until 1929 when they moved to Guidlford at Midland Junction, where Albert Snr was a Locomotive Driver. Albert Snr and Muriel Divorced in 1936.
Albert Jnr was a Labourer in Perth, WA when he married Edwina May Mudge (born 1909 in Wagin, WA) in 1937. Albert Jnr enlisted in the AMF in July 1940, serving as a Private (Service No:WX5482) with 13th Training Battalion before promotion to Signalman with 2/28th Infantry Battalion. He served in the Middle East and New Guinea and was Discharged in January 1945. Albert and Edwina Divorced, and in 1943 Albert remarried Mavis Madeline Mottelin (born 1919 in West Perth, WA) - Mavis was a Machinist.
Albert returned to Perth, WA following his Discharge and worked as a Clerk, Assistant Storeman and Shirt Cutter. He died in 1966 and Mavis in 1970.
