Ted was the second of four children of Thomas Stirling Lamb (born 1888 at Clarence Town in NSW) and Verlie Bruce (born 1890 at Glen Oak in NSW). Thomas was a Contractor when he married Verlie in 1913 at Clarence Town in NSW. They raised their family in the Maitland District in NSW where Thomas was a Porter.

Ted worked as a Farmer at Raymond Terrace in NSW, and was a Labourer in Newcastle when he enlisted in the ACMF in April 1941. He was a Gunner (Service No:N154727) with 32 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps when he was Discharged in September 1945. Brother Cyril William Lamb (Sergeant, Service No:NX13944) and Brother in Law Frederick Russell Dimmock (Corporal, Service No:N157126) also served in WWII.

In September 1945 Ted married Thirza Ann Smith (born 1917 at Raymond Tce, NSW) at Muswellbrook, NSW. Ted and Thirza lived in the Illawarra Region in NSW, where Ted was a Bread Carter before moving to Wyong, NSW in the late 1950s. Ted was an Orchardist before he and Thirza moved to Point Clare near Gosford, NSW, where he worked as a Welder. Ted died at Clarence Town, NSW in 1986 and Thirza died at Gosford in 2006.
