Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Ron was the only child of Albert Peter Lynch (born 1889 in Geraldton, WA) and Margaret (Susy) Susan Giles (born 1899 in Geraldton, WA). Albert was a Farm Hand in 1923 when he married Susy in Geraldton, WA. By the 1940s, Albert was a Hotel Manager at Caron, WA - a small town near Mullewa.

Ron was living in Caron when he married Johanna (Phyl) Devina Pinker (born 1921 in Perth, WA) in 1944 in Perenjori, WA. Phyl was a Waitress in Caron when they met. In April 1944 Ron enlisted in the Army, and was a Private (Service No:WX40993) attached to 11 Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in January 1946. The 11th Battalion performed garrison duties in Perth before moving to the Northern Territory in 1943, and in 1945 the Battalion saw service against the Japanese in the New Britain Campaign. At the end of the War, the Battalion occupied Rabaul before being disbanded on 11 April 1946.

Ron and Phyl lived in Collie, WA following the end of the war, and Ron worked as a Miner. By 1954 they had relocated to Albany, WA where Ron worked as an Excavator Driver. Phyl died in 1986 and Ron in 2008.
