Noreen (Mary) was the eighth of nine children of John Morrison (born 1882 at St Leonard's, NSW) and Martha Mary May Watt (born 1887 in Ashfield, NSW). John was a Labourer in 1905 when he married Martha at St Leonard's, NSW. They lived  in Sydney, NSW and John worked as a Labourer and Brick Burner.

Noreen enlisted in the WRAAF (Aircraftwoman, Service No:109998) in September 1943 and was attached to RAAF Station Richmond when she was Discharged in September 1946.

In 1945 at Chatswood in NSW, Noreen married Leading Aircraftman Cecil James Butler (Service No:123635). Following the war, Noreen and Cecil settled in Ipswich, QLD where Cecil was a Truck Driver. In 1978 Noreen and Cecil moved to Landsborough on the Susnhine Coast in QLD. Mary died in 1985 and Cecil in 1999.
