John Sheehan was the elder son of George Stweart Sheehan and Iris Elanenor Margret Sheehan nee Kennedy and the elder brother of Norman Sheehan D.F.C 

He served in Vultee Vengance dive bombers in Darwin and later in Ferry Flight 

He was self employed in Industrial Design and Advertising.He was an accomplished sailor and a past Commodore of the Middle Harbour Yacht Club and the Prince Albert Yacht Club 

He was survived by his eldest son Phillip ,a Vietnam vetran , his daughter Lindy , his son Geoffery a Mirage fighter pilot with 75 Squadron RAAF and his son John a professional racing yacht sailor
