LATE REV. JOHN WILKINSON.
UNVEILING MEMORIAL TABLET.
At the evening service on Sunday, December 10th, a memorial tablet to ' the memory of the late Rev. John Wilkinson was unveiled in the Narrabri Church by the Rev. William  Stewart, the chairman of the Armidale District. It will be remembered that Mi'. Wilkinson was stationed at Narrabri last year, when he enlisted with the Wallabies and marched with them from Narrabri to Newcastle, from there entering the Maitland Camp. Here his end came with tragic suddenness. He died from shock received during a heavy storm on 3rd February last at the Maitland Military Camp. The unveiling of the memorial was, by a happy forethought, set down for the Sunday nearest the date of the anniversary of the departure of Mr. Wilkinson with the Wallabies from Narrabri, which date fell on Friday, 8th December. The church was crowded for the ceremony, there being representatives of all  classes and denominations in the congregation. The interest manifested was a unique tribute to the genial personality and widespread popularity of the deceased. Amongst those present was Mr. R. Cameron, of Pidgee,. who acted as captain of the Wallabies during their long march. The tablet of white marble, in dark , grey setting, is inscribed as follows:  'In memory of Rev. John Wilkinson, late Minister of this Church, also member 'Wallabies' ' Route March, who died Maitland Military Camp, 3rd February, 1916. The just shall live by his faithfulness.'
