Richard was the fourth of eight children of William Henry Pinker) born 1876 in Gloucestershire, England) and Mabel Devina Cook (born 1880 in Melbourne, Victoria). William immigrated with his parents in 1886, arriving in Fremantle, WA on board the Otago. Mabel arrived in Fremantle with her parents and siblings in 1900. In 1907 William was a Farm Hand in East Perth, WA when he married Mabel, and in 1911 the family moved to Northam.
Richard worked as a Labourer in Northam, and was in Wiluna, WA working as a Miner when he enlisted in the ACMF in September 1942 as a Private (Service No:W83885). He was attached to 16 Battalion Volunteer Corps when he was Discharged in 1944. Brothers Henry (Private, Service No:WX27492), Robert (Private, Service No:WX33317) and Walter (Private, Service no:WX19620) also served in WWII.
Richard died in Wiluna, WA in 1944.
