Bob was the third of eight children of William (Harry) Henry Pinker (born 1876 in Gloucestershire, England) and Mabel Devina Cook (born 1880 in Melbourne, Victoria). Harry immigrated in 1886, arriving in Fremantle, WA on board the Otago, and Mabel came to Fremantle with her parents and siblings in 1901. Harry was a Farm Hand in East Perth when he married Mabel in 1907, and in 1911 the family moved to Northam, WA.

In 1931 Bob was a Labourer in Northam, WA  when he married Hazel Phyllis Miller (born 1912 in Northam, WA) and in September 1942 Bob enlisted in the Australian Army. He was a Driver (Service No:WX33317) with 124 General Transport Coy when he was Discharged in January 1947. Brothers Richard (Private, Service No:W83885), Ted (Private, Service No:WX27492), and Walter (Private, Service No:WX19620) also served in WWII.

Bob and Hazel continued living in Northam, WA when Bob returned from WWII, and Bob worked as a Labourer. He died in 1986 and Hazel in 1996.
