Military Service. New Guinea Port Moresby Milne Bay and Lae Between June 1942 and 1943.

 
Tom was a quiet person and did not talk about the war and said he never fired against the Japanese, however he was injured during training where a bullet ricocheted off a target and hit his leg.

also he said was bombed at Port Moseby, and was part of air crew for biscuit bombers, dropping supplies out of open cargo door, where a mate fell out to his death
