Harry was the youngest of fourteen children of George Heaysman (born 1842 in East Grinstead, Sussex) and Emily Caroline Boswell (born 1850 in Umballa, India). George was a Gentleman's Servant in 1860 when he enlisted in HM Indian Military Forces, and served in India from 1860 to 1869 (Private, Lance Corporal). He arrived in India on the Clarence in September 1860 and was stationed at Trichinopoly when he married Emily at Coonoor in 1864. George and Emily returned to England and in 1881 George was a Sergeant Instructor with Sussex Rifle Volunteers. He died in 1899.
Harry was sent to St Augustine's Boys' Home in Clewer, Berkshire following his father's death, and enlitsed in the King's Own Royal Lancashire Regiment as an Army Drummer (Regimental No:8974) - in 1911 he was stationed at St Hellier in Jersey, Channel Islands - and served as a Private and Lance Corporal in WWI.
In May 1921 arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on board the Ormonde, and worked as a Motor Lorry Driver in Perth, WA before moving to Nungarin near Toodyay, WA in 1931 where he worked as a Farm Hand. In 1941 Harry married Ellen (Jean) Jane Gibbs (nee Reid, born 1886 in Brunswick, Victoria) and they settled at Nungarin where Harry was a Farm Hand.
In April 1943 Harry enlisted in the ACMF and was a Private (Service No:W86742) with 15th Battalion when he was Discharged on 13 March 1944.
Following Jean's death in 1951, Harry moved to Perth, WA where he was working as a Foreman when he married Alma (Dolly) Emma MacKean (nee Taylor, born 1900 in Harvey, WA). Harry and Alma remained in Perth until Harry retired in 1958, when they moved to Mandurah, WA. Harry died in 1969 and Dolly in 1971.
