Arthur Alexander KILPATRICK
As a farmer, Arthur was classified as operating an essential service, so was precluded from signing up.
However, he did become a member of the Volunteer Defence Corps (VDC) (often referred to as the Home Guard) and used his own truck to transport supplies to soldiers and civilians who were camped out in the bush practising manoeuvres.
