Letitia Anne Sylvie Metzke was born Meekatharra on June 4, 1915. When she was eleven years old her family moved to Cuballing in Western Australia.

Growing up as a teenager she called to the name Anne. 

Anne conducted her General Nursing Training at Perth Hospital which is now Royal Perth Hospital. After her training at Perth Hospital she went to a children's hospital in Subiaco as a staff nurse which is now Princess Margarett Hospital.
