Arthur was the son of Richard and Margaret (Watts) Spearing. He was a labourer. He enlisted on the 20th May 1915. His service was colourful in that he was court-martialled and was AWOL. He married Miss Susannah James, on 17 May 1919 in Manchester, England. He died died on the 10 November, 1950.
He was listed on the Timboon Honour Roll.
