Probably more famous for being the son of Andrew Barton "Banjo" Paterson, CBE (17 February 1864 – 5 February 1941) was an Australian bush poet, journalist and author.
Hugh served as a Private with 20th Brigade HQ during the Siege of Tobruk and the North African campaigns of 1942 elevating in rank to NCO.
On his return to Australia he was promoted to Lieutenant and served with the Australian Army Amentities Service from 1943 - 1945.
He also had the gift of poetry and penned several "Tobruk" speicfics rhymes detailing life in the city under Siege
