Bill was the second of six children of Alfred James Webb (born 1855 in Geelong, Victoria) and Elizabeth Jane Docherty (born 1859 at Campbell's Creek in Victoria). Alfred, a Farmer, and Elizabeth settled in the Gippsland Region to raise their family.
Bill, a Farmer at Mirboo in Gippsland, Victoria married Henrietta (Hetta) Clara Crole (born 1892 in Carlton, Victoria) in 1912 at Mirboo. In August 1918, Bill enlisted in the AIF as a Private (Service No:78918) and served until December 1918. Brother Charles Joseph Webb (Private, Service No:5968) served in WWI.
Bill and Hetta settled at Mirboo in Gippsland, Victoria and raised their family. Bill was a Farmer and in April 1942 he enlisted in the ACMF (Service No:V388896), He was a Private attached to 23 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps when he was Discharged in October 1945. Son Gordon Stuart Webb (Private, Service No:VX108642) served with the 22nd Infantry Battalion in WWII. Hetta died in 1952 and Bill died in 1955.
