Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Leo was the fourth of five children of Thomas Casey (born 1868 in Sligo, Ireland) and Teresa Igoe (born 1877 in Longford, Ireland). Thomas was with the Royal Irish Constabulary in 1902 when he married Teresa. Thomas died in 1907 and Teresa remarried. Leo was a Boarder in the 1911 Irish Census - and at four years of age was recorded as a 'General Labourer'.

In October 1926 Leo immigrated to QLD, arriving on board the Orsova. He was a Labourer at Burleigh, Southport, QLD when he married Beulah Grace Rudder (born 1913 in Grafton, NSW) on 13 January 1941 - the same date he enlisted in the RAAF. Leo served as a Corporal (Service No:24442) and was attached to 3 Personnel Depot when he was Discharged on 28 August 1946. Father-in-Law Lindsay Ernest Rudder (Trooper, Service No:1382) served with the NSW Imperial Bushmen in the Boer War, and Brother-in-Law Arnold (Barney) Eugene Rudder (Leading Aircraftman, RAAF, Service No:24971) was killed in New Guinea in 1943.

Leo and Beulah settled at Palm Beach, Southport, QLD where Leo was a Farmer before they relocated to Wynnum, QLD in 1960. Leo worked as a Storeman in Wynnum until he retired. Leo died in 1986 and Beulah in 1989.
