Robert was the eldest of four children of George Frederick White (born 1881 in Violet Town, Victoria) and first wife Jenny Lord (born 1880 in Melbourne, Victoria). In 1907 George was a Farmer at Boho via Violet Town, Victoria when he married Jenny (a Music Teacher). They settled in Violet Town, Victoria where George was a Grazier. Following Jenny's death in 1916, George remarried in 1918 to Florence Jessie Smith.
Robert was a Farmer/Grazier in Violet Town, Victoria when he enlisted in the Australian Army in June 1940. He served as a Gunner (Service No:VX26807) with 2/3 Australian Light Anti Tank Regiment RAA in the Middle East (1941/1942) and New Guinea (1943/1944). He was Discharged in October 1945. Brothers James Edwin (Private, Service No:VX30203) and Alexander George (Gunner, Service No:VX26804/Aircraftman, Service No:429757), Brother-in-Law Ronald Mckenzie Nash (Driver; Service No:VX44250) and Wife Ada Isabel Ellis (Aircraftwoman; Service No:F103722) also served in WWII.
In 1946 Robert was in Perth, WA when he married Ada Isabel Ellis (born 1912 in Perth, WA). Ada was a Shop Assistant and Robert a Contractor - they lived in Wundowie and Armadale, WA. Robert died in 1950 and Ada in 1962.
