Son of Martin and Margaret HALLINAN, 31 Botany Street, Redfern, Sydney.
The late Private John Hallinan.
News has been received by Mrs. Hallinan, of 45 William-street, Redfern, of the death of her youngest son, Private John Hallinan, on April 30. Private Hallinan, who was in his 21st year, died of wounds at a field clearing station in France. Much sympathy and kind messages have been bestowed upon his sorrowing mother, brother and sister. The young soldier had always shown himself a true and upright type of Catholic young man. Enlisting in April, 1916, he embarked in October, and was sent to the French front. After a month or so in the firing line he contracted trench fever which necessitated his retirement for three months. A few weeks prior to making the supreme sacrifice, he cabled that he was in Paris on furlough, and enjoying the sights of the great city. His brother James is in France with the Mining Corps. — R.I.P.
