Ted was the eldest of four children of Hector Charles Henry Ludowici (born 1895 in Sydney, NSW) and Dorothy (Dorrie) Alfreda Baynes (born 1893 in Essex, England). Hector (a Belt Maker) and Dorrie married in 1921 in Sydney, NSW and settled there to raise their family. Hector established Mangrovite Belting Coy - a leather belt manufacturer, currier, tanner and importer - of which he was the Company Secretary/Director. Following Dorrie's death in 1931, Hector remarried and in 1938 relocated to New Zealand.
Ted enlisted in the ACMF in 1941 and served with the Volunteer Defence Corps Engineers (Sapper: Service No:N172844) until his Discharge in September 1944. Father Hector (Sapper; Service No:18956) served in WWI.
Ted was an Engineer in Sydney in 1947 when he married Constance (Connie) Miriam Ross (born 1922 in Comabella, NSW) - Connie was a Commonwealth Bank Clerk. Ted and Connie settled in Sydney, NSW where Ted was an Engineer. He died in 2005 and Connie in 2018.
