Edward (nee Aloysius) Brennan was the fourth of seven children of George Henry Brennan (born 1892 in Busselton, Western Australia) and Mary Catherine Herlihy (born 1883 in Perth, WA). George (a Sleeper Cutter) and Mary married in 1911 and settled in Busselton. George served in both WWI and WWII - as a Private (Service No:3487) in WWI and with the ACMF (Private; Service No:W232729) in WWII. He and Mary moved to Perth in the late 1920s and George worked on the Railways as a Shunter, Porter and Watchman.

Edward was working as a Shunter in Perth when he enlisted in the Army in 1941. He served as a Driver (Service No:WX11873) and was attached to 1 Air Maintenance AASC when he was Discharged in March 1946. Wife Edith Louise Hill (Corporal; Service No:WF94080) served in WWI. Brother Maurice (Corporal; Service No:WX90310) died as a PoW in Thailand. Brothers George (Aircraftman I; Service No:210056) and Gerald (Private; Service No:WX15995) also served in WWII.

In 1947 Edward married Edith Louise Hill (born 1924 in Busselton, WA) and the couple lived in Perth where Edward worked as a Linesman until they moved to Harvey in the 1950s. Edward was a Forestry Worker in Harvey for the next twenty years, then he and Edith moved to Collie, WA where Edward worked as a Storeman. He died in 1995 and Edith in 2005.
