John Edward (Jack) Moffatt - WW1
Born July 1897 in Newcastle-onTyne. Died 9th July 1923. Buried Toowong Cemetery (War Grave Section). At 16 he migrated to Australia with his two sisters after death of mother. Gained employment at Brisbane General Hospital as a surgical dresser. Joined 1st AIF in 1916 at age of 20, was posted to Army Medical Corps and served in the 6th Sea Transport bringing sick and wounded back to Australia, namely the 6th A.G.H. Brisbane. Discharged from military service Oct 1917 as medically unfit, suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis. Admitted to Repat Hospital Stanthorpe for convalescence. Nothing more known of him until his death five years later.
