Berlin. 383 aircraft, 27 Lancasters Lost (7.0%). Berlin was recognised as the target 40 minutes before zero hour and night-fighters were sent to a radio beacon rendezvous point between Hanover and Bremen but missed the bomber stream and were consequently redirected to Berlin. PFF losses were unusually high with 10 Lancasters being Lost from 156 Sqn. All in all, an ineffective raid, with bombs being scattered throughout Berlin. 82 houses were destroyed and 36 people killed. No industrial damage of note.
Lost without trace but re-discovered in the eastern sector of Berlin in 1976
