LTCOL Dr. Shirley Joy COGHLAN died 17 Jun 2024 QLD
With the Rank of Major, Shirley served with 1st Australian Field Hospital, Vung Tau, South Vietnam from the 3 December 1969 to 15 June 1970.
It has been stated in a booklet release by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons [Surgeons in Conflict] that Shirley was the first female Medical Officer to ever serve officially with the Australian Army in a War Zone.
