Son of William Ough and Helen Bell Ough nee Burns of Steele Street, Moonee Ponds, Victoria.

Brother of Arthur Ough who returned to Australia on 30  January 1919 having served with the 46th Battalion; Henry William Ough who returned to Australia on 27 December 1918 having served with the 53rd Battalion

Commenced return to Australia 28 March 1919 aboard HT City of Poona disembarking on 15 May 1919
