Harold Sydney Kay Nairn was a solider in World War I. His service number was 1066 and he served in the infantry. Harold did not have a wife or any children prior to the war. However, post-war, he married Hilda Harriet Nairn. They had a child by the name of Clifford Norman Nairn. Harold was a barber prior to the war, and he lived at 10 Rose Street, Mile End, South Australia and his birthplace was Adelaide.

Harold enlisted in the army on the 22nd April 1915. He was 21 years and 1 month and weighed 120lbs (54kg) at the time of recruitment. His height was 5”7, he had brown eyes and brown hair and his skin colour was white. He appears to have served briefly on Gallipoli before returning to Egypt in early 1916. After travelling to France with the 27th Battalion, Harold was wounded in action on 4 August 1916 at Pozières. His wound was in the arm. Harold was discharged from hospital in November 1916, but was not fit to fight and so was returned to Australia in February 1917.

Harold Nairn died in 1954 and is buried in the AIF section of the West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide.
