Son of Thomas and Rose O'Sullivan, of Toowong, Brisbane, Queensland.
His Honour Judge O'Sullivan, of Brisbane, received a cablegram yesterday, from Salisbury, England, to the effect that his second son, Thomas Real O'Sullivan, was granted a commission as lieutenant on 3rd Instant. Lieut. O'Sullivan left Brisbane in December last year, after having completed a term at Duntroon College. At the time of departure he was a sergeant, and on arrival at Salisbury he passed through the N.C.O. school successfully. He has been in France since July last. News is also to hand that the judge's eldest son, Corporal Frank M. O'Sullivan (solicitor), is at battalion headquarters. Salisbury Plain. He is at present acting as law sergeant in charge of courts-martial.
JUDGE O'SULLIVAN'S SON.
Expressions of Sympathy.
Brief, but feeling reference was this morning made in the District Court to the death of Mr. T. Real O'Sullivan, son of Judge O'Sullivan, K.C. Young O'Sullivan was recently killed in action in France. Judge Jameson, who spoke with evident emotion, said that before proceeding with the ordinary business, he would like the court to express its deep sense of sympathy with Judge O'Sullivan, in the bereavement he had sustained. Any words that they could speak these times were wholly inadequate to express what they felt. There was this consolation, that he whom they mourned had given his life in the cause of freedom and justice. Mr. J. L. Woolcock, on behalf of the legal profession, also expressed sympathy with thee bereaved.
Those present then stood for a moment —a silent testimony in a brave lad and a highly respected father.
