Son of Simeon Hicks and Catherine Hicks nee Hoar of Elphinestone Street, Ravenswood, QLD.
At the time of enlistment he was residing in Charters Towers, QLD. He also had an older brother with the same name who was born in 1889 but died the same year
Commenced return to Australia on 25 August 1917 aboard HT Benalla disembarking on 10 September 1917 at Sydney for overland travel to Brisbane
