He left a widow, Annie Smith who, in 1917, was resident of 10, Dartbrook Road, Auburn formerly of “Banksia”, Branding Street, Alexandria, NSW.

There is a Fred Smith who served with Australian forces remembered on the Dunoon War Memorial.

He is one of 7 Australian Great War casualties honoured there.
