24 Apr 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At CORBIE on the night of the 24th/25th April, 1918, though badly gassed he carried on repairing telephone lines during an intense gas shell and H.E. bombardment. Nearly one hundred breaks were repaired and it was largely due to his untiring devotion to duty and self sacrifice that the Brigade was not at any time out of touch with Division or any of its units. It was only after he had been on duty continuously for over twenty four hours that he reported to the Field Dressing Station and then not until he had been given an order to do so by his O.C.'
