The details provided are taken from the book "Stealth Raiders - a few daring men in 1918" written by Lucas Jordan, published 2017, refer to page 174 and 266. Prior to the war he was a labourer of Broken Hill NSW. He enlisted 15th March 1915 aged 20 years. He served with the 10th Infantry Battalion and was awarded the Military Medal for his activities. He survived the war and departed the UK for home 31st March 1919.

His brother Bertham Harold Elvidge 35th Batalion AIF was wounded on three seperate occasions but returned to Australia in June 1919
