Private Hnery Northover (Service No:2367) enlisted in the AIF in Newcastle, New South Wales on 15 April 1916 with Newcastle Depot Battalion. Private Northover was attached to 35th Infantry Battalion on 17 October 1916 when he embarked with his Unit from Sydney for Plymouth on board HMAT A30 Borda. On 10 January 1919 embarked  from England for Tasmania on 10 January 1918 on board HT Corinthic,and was attached to 35th Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 9 April 1918. He re enlisted in the Army in the early 1920s, serving with the RAE as a Sergeant (Service No:1020) at Sandy Bay and Anglesea Barracks until the early 1940s.

Henry was born in Staffordshire, England in 1880, third of seven children of William John Northover (b1851 in Punchknowle, Dorset) and Deborah Dawson (b1856 in Norton, Staffordshire). William (a Pottery Labourer) and Deborah (a Domestic Servant) married in 1876 in Stoke-on-Trent in Staffodrshire, where they settled and raised their family and William worked for Minton Pottery as a Colour Grinder and Potter. 

Henry immigrated in 1907, arriving in Sydney, New South Wales on board the Campania and settling in Newcastle where he was a Jeweller and Pawnbroker. In 1916 when he enlisted in the AIF, Henry was a Storeman in Newcastle, listing his sister Madge Christmas (living in Hobart, Tasmania) as his NoK. Following his Discharge in Tasmania, Henry settled in Hobart, where he was working as a Storeman in 1919 when he married Margaret Wilson Scott (b1888 in Roxburgshire, Scotland) - Margaret had immigrated with her parents and siblings in 1901, arriving in Hobart on board the Tongariro. Henry and Margaret settled in Hobart,  where they raised their family and Henry was a Soldier. Following his retirement from the Army in the early 1940s, Henry worked as a Clerk and Storeman. Henry died in 1959 and Margaret in 1966.
