World War 2 Service

8 Aug 1918: Honoured Military Medal, For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations 8th/9th August 1918 during the advance on Proyart. Before reaching the final objective, Pte Marron's platoon was help up by an enemy's strong post. Pte Marron, when his number 1 Lewis Gunner became a casualty, immediately rescued the gun under heavy machine gun and sniper fire. He then turned the gun onto the garrison of the strong post, thus enabling the platoon to continue its advance and finally caused the occupants of the strong post to surrender. Pts Marron throughout the day showed great skill and coolness in the handling of his gun and engaged effectively all targets that presented themselves.
