Later changed to his wife Vera E. O'Brien nee Smith of Glenmore Road, Paddington, NSW. William and Vera married during 1916c in Redfern, NSW
Commenced return to Australia on 4 May 1917 aboard HT Medic disembarking on 5 July 1917 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
