Son of Elijah O'Brien and Annie (Anastasia) O'Brien of Buckland Street, Alexandria, NSW

Later changed to his wife Vera E. O'Brien nee Smith  of Glenmore Road, Paddington, NSW. William and Vera married during 1916c in Redfern, NSW

Commenced return to Australia on 4 May 1917 aboard HT Medic disembarking on 5 July 1917 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
