Address at the time of enlistment was given as C/- Mrs Hilliard of Dennison Road, Lewisham, NSW.

Son of Charles Upton and Lilias Maude Upton nee Kerr of Harlin, QLD

3 May 1916 - enlisted at Marrickville, NSW with the 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column with ther rank of Gunner.

1 September 1916 - transferred to the 116 Howitzer Brigade with the rank of Driver.

24 March 1917 - transferred to the 5th Divisional Ammunition Column.

1 August 1917 - transferred to the 14th Field Artillery Brigade.

24 January 1918 - transferred to the 4th Australian Army Sub Park.

12 March1918 - transferred to the 2nd Motor Transport Company

Commenced return to Australia on 13 July 1919 aboard HT Persic disembarking on 2 September 1919

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

17 October 1919 - discharged at 2nd Military District

On 30 March 1940 Eric married Marjorie Pearl Wade in QLD.

At the time of his death he was residing in Alice Street, Maryborough, QLD
