Maurie completed No 2 C-130A Hercules Loadmaster course in 1960. It is understood that he was one of the first to be selected from the supply mustering to undergo loadmaster training.
Maurie was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air which was Gazetted on the 4th February 1965.
At the time of his passing, Maurie resided in Ulladulla, NSW.
